Using Technology in the Classroom!

One of the main themes of any Dr. Smirnova class is using technology and how to teach to digitally based learners. Students today do not learn the same as they did years ago. This is partly due to the technological revolution we are experiencing. The video I have linked here does a great job of showing how much time students of today spend with technology, and how little it it used in their learning. In 2019, this cannot be the reality. Everybody, from toddlers to the elderly, uses technology during their daily lives, and it's a shame that it isn't used more often in the classroom. It is becoming a vital part of our world, so teachers would be best served using it rather than running from it. Since students are already using it all of the time, educators must take advantage of this, and find fun, engaging, and creative ways to use technology in the classroom to benefit student learning. Throughout this course, one of the main things that I learned was that technology should be a main supplemental resource for teachers, but not the main resource. Technology should not replace actual teaching, but rather be a tool to help teachers be more effective.
